Moeve will begin construction of a green hydrogen plant in Huelva before the end of 2025, marking the first phase of the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley. Located in the La Rábida industrial park in Palos de la Frontera, this initiative is part of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) and aims to accelerate industrial decarbonization. The project involves an investment of €4 billion and is expected to create around 2,820 direct jobs.
Additionally, Moeve plans to build a green ammonia plant in San Roque (Cádiz) starting in November 2026. This facility will be part of a maritime corridor connecting Andalusia with Rotterdam, scheduled to be operational by 2030. The announcement was made by Moeve’s CEO, Maarten Wetselaar, during Spain’s entry into the World Economic Forum’s First Mover Coalition. The company highlights Spain’s strategic role in the energy transition due to its resources, technical capabilities, and supportive institutional framework.
