China Marine Bunker (PetroChina) Co., a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING, has completed the first green methanol bunkering operation in northern China at the Port of Dalian. A total of 500 metric tons of domestically produced green methanol was supplied to the COSCO SHIPPING YANGPU, China’s first methanol dual-fuel container ship. The fuel, certified by ISCC, was produced using renewable feedstocks like agricultural waste and recycled tires through gasification synthesis technology.
This milestone marks the creation of a closed-loop green methanol supply chain—from production to bunkering—within China. It also positions Dalian as a future green fuel hub in Northeast Asia. With similar operations already completed in Shanghai and Hainan, COSCO SHIPPING is laying the groundwork for a nationwide green methanol network, supporting its broader decarbonization strategy and offering scalable solutions for the global shipping industry.
