A team from the Technical University of Cartagena (UPCT) has developed a low‑cost terrestrial robot that will autonomously monitor environmental conditions around the Port of Cartagena. Equipped with sensors to measure air quality, noise levels, temperature, humidity, and visible solid waste through computer vision, the robot aims to provide continuous, data‑driven insight into the port’s environmental status.

The data collected will be integrated into an online platform offering real‑time visualization and automatic reporting for port managers, helping improve waste detection, optimize cleaning tasks, and support informed decision‑making. The project is one of several funded by the Port Authority’s Environmental Chair to strengthen sustainability and environmental management in the port area.
